Eighty Percent Of All Men Are Not Very Good Looking
All the single ladies, do I have good news for you!
Years ago, Men’s Health Magazine conducted a survey of its readers to find out just how many men think they are good looking. An astonishing 80% of all men do not think they are good looking. They think they are really good looking!
No, this is NOT a joke.
The truth is, even if mothers were surveyed confidentially, they would not say 80% iof their sons are “really good looking.”
So how does this relate to personal branding? The answer is selecting and promoting the right personal brand begins with a healthy self-perspective. Our personal brands must be a true reflection of who we are. Protecting and maintaining something we are not can be exhausting.
Now this is going to be hard for some of us to accept. We all cannot be Brad Pitt or Charlize Theron. Some of us have to be Urkel. Yes, this hurts. But it is true.
Don’t get caught up in having the most awesome descriptive that no one can relate to. Tom Hanks has made a hell of a career being a…nice guy.
Here’s what we are after. We want others to say “If I could choose one word or phrase to describe him/her it is ______________. What do you want that word or phrase to be?
The formula is simple. Select, protect and promote.
