The Person to See

How would you describe the program to my colleagues, boss, spouse, etc.?

Rainmaker U. is a relationship-driven, business-development program that teaches high-impact performers how to position themselves as The Person to See™ within their professions by helping clients crystallize their personal brand and market that brand better than anyone else in their industry.

How does the program work?

Once you enroll, you are assigned to a specific class. You and your classmates will meet four times over the course of 12 months (once/quarter). The sessions are from 8:30am-5:30pm.

Who will be in my class?

Rainmaker U. is not a networking group, so there is no limitation on the number of candidates per industry. Class size is generally 20 candidates. Typically 10-12 industries are represented in each class.

What if I have a conflict on one of those dates?

There are several classes going on at the same time. If you can’t make your class’s scheduled session, you will have an opportunity to make up that session with another group. We discourage making up more than one class in a year because this may undermine your ability to develop strong relationships with your classmates.

What is the time commitment?

This is entirely up to you. Attending Rainmaker U. classes alone will not guarantee your success. Only you can do that. There is little homework. All educational and strategic exercises are typically completed during class time. How much time you devote to implementation of what you learn in the program in-between classes is determined by how committed you are to your success.

Who are the best candidates for the program?

Anyone who truly has the ambition to be The Person to See™ in his or her industry. They typically possess these qualities:

  1. Believe in coaching
  2. Are willing to do the work
  3. Have a sense of urgency

Is Rainmaker U. only for sales professionals?

Absolutely not. We have professionals in our program who are executives working to climb to the top of the corporate ladder. Several clients have political ambitions and are hungry for innovative networking strategies. A number of our clients are business owners of mid-sized companies looking for ways to leverage their leadership positions to create more influence and business. We also have a number of representatives from the legal, accounting, financial services and insurance industries.

Are all the participants in Rainmaker U. from Los Angeles?

A majority of our clients are from Los Angeles. As the program expands, we are attracting clients from Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Oregon, Texas, Colorado, Canada and even Hong Kong!

Tell me about the caliber of the participants?

We look to enroll stars and rising stars. Unless a candidate demonstrates special circumstances, he or she must earn at least $200,000/year to participate. More than 40 industries are represented in the program. Sixty percent of our clients make $300,000 - $500,000/year. Ten percent earn more than $1 million.

What happens after Year One?

We encourage our clients to participate for three consecutive years. Re-enrollment is on a year-to-year basis. At the conclusion of Year One we only invite some people back for Year Two. Our criteria for being invited back is: (1) Are you embracing our system and the concept of Personal Branding? and (2) Are you doing the work? If the answer to both of these questions is "yes," we welcome you back. If the answer to either question is "no," we don't feel it makes sense for you to continue in the program.

At the conclusion of Year Two we only invite some people back for Year Three. Our selection criteria is the same. At the conclusion of Year Three, it is time for you to go off and select a new coaching program. We are not in the business of building a cult.

Can you describe the class focus for each quarter?

Session A – Strategic Planning

You will approach strategic planning like you never have before. We walk you through a step-by-step process helping you to build a powerful personal strategic growth plan that focuses on identifying and implementing:

  • Personal changes you must make if you are to compete at the highest level
  • The key risks you must embrace in order to truly tap into your greatest potential
  • Strategies necessary to overcome blockers that prevent you from stepping outside your comfort zone
  • The accountability that will get you to take action

At the end of the session you will have a personal strategic growth plan that will undoubtedly drive you to the top of your industry—provided you are willing to do the work necessary to execute it!

Session B – Personal Branding

Participants are guided through a process that shows them how to identify their personal brands as well as begin the process of building personal brand equity.

You will learn how to create a compelling 15-second commercial that will blow away the competition.

Session C – Building a Power Network

Think of it this way…in real estate you want to own the least expensive house on the most expensive block. Similarly, your network should be made up of people who are better than you and who challenge you to grow and be your best. If this doesn’t sound like your current network, then you are in the wrong one!

You will learn innovative strategies that will teach you how to intentionally build a network of superstars that will pull you up.

Session D – Maintaining Dynamic Contact

The average person must hear your message 6-8 times to remember you. What are you doing to consistently reinforce your message with your key centers of influence?

We will introduce you to our innovative contact system, which will teach you how to maintain meaningful contact with those critical centers of influence over the course of the year.

$7,000/365 days = $19.18/day

What is the long-term goal of Rainmaker U.?

To teach our clients how to position themselves as The Person to See™ in their business by helping them create a compelling personal brand and market that brand better than their competition.

We also put our money where our mouth is. We donate 1% of all proceeds from Rainmaker U. to AbilityFirst, formerly The Crippled Children’s Society of Los Angeles.
